Experience a fascinating historical tour to Al Menia! Take a motorboat ride to Tal Al Amarna, the ancient city of King Akhenaton, who was the father of Tutankhamun. Discover the rich history and significance of this remarkable site.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cairo for an early 6:00 a.m. start for an interesting and historical tour to Al Menia. Al Menia is approximately a 4-hour drive from Cairo. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to a motorboat to visit Tal Al Amarna, the Virgin City of King Akhenaton, who was also the father of Tutankhamun. It is called the Virgin City because Akhenaton believed in only one God, but most of his people disagreed, leading to a revolution that forced him to start a new city. After Akhenaton's death, his son moved to Luxor and changed his name from Tutankhaten to Tutankhamun, meaning "living image of Amun." Next, you'll visit Bani Hassan, where you will have the opportunity to view many tombs from the Old and Middle Kingdoms. After this truly interesting tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
