Your tour guide and driver will pick you up from Alexandria Port (at the cruise exit door) for an exciting day tour of Alexandria. First, visit Pompey’s Pillar, constructed in honor of Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th century. Originally part of the Temple of Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and the Caesarean.
Next, head to the Catacombs, the largest Roman cemetery consisting of three levels carved into the rock. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Alexandria before proceeding to Qaitbay Citadel, built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria. The tour will conclude with a visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Finally, you will be transferred back to your cruise ship at Alexandria Port.
